Glenafton hosted Galston in the league, knowing three points were required if they were to remain in the title race, with Ayr Boswell on the verge of creating an unassailable lead at the top.
The game started quite evenly with Glenafton creating a couple of early chances. Galston had some chances too but the home defence were reasonably comfortable.
Glenafton were controlling the game but they went behind against the run of play. A long ball from the Galston defender put in two of their strikers. The home goalkeeper made a double save before the rebound was knocked in by a Galston striker.
There was about 10 minutes left in the first half when Galston failed to deal with a cross and Chris Vance knocked the ball in to level the game up.
Glenafton kept on pushing for another goal which finally came from a corner that was knocked to the back post and volleyed in.
The match had been turned on its head and the home side went in at the break relieved to be in front.
Half Time: Glenafton Athletic Under 16s 2-1 Galston BC Under 16s
The second half began with Galston pushing for an equaliser but they never got it due to some fantastic saves from the Glens goalkeeper.
The bulk of the game was played in the middle of the park for the majority of the second half. Galston were still pushing for a goal and had a great chance but were denied by another good save from the goalkeeper, who was injured in the process.
With 5 minutes of the game remaining Glenafton took advantage of the tiredness in the Galston defence and scored twice to seal the victory.
