Troon Thistle
Hosiery Park
Troon pick up their first three points of the season with a deserved win over Coylton at a windy Hosiery Park.

With the strong wind behind them it was the visitors who created the first chance after four minutes, but Troon keeper Adam Hunter wasn't tested as the ball flew well past.

Troon responded immediately; a Craig Garden pass sent Conan McGhee through but he was judged to be just offside.

Troon kept up the pressure with Kian O'Neill and Conan McGhee combining to set up a half chance for Scott Brown, but the Coylton keeper was quickly off his line to clear the danger.

Adam Hunter was then called into action saving a shot from the edge of the box, before a great pass from Blair Hepburn found Conan McGhee who shot narrowly past.

Against the run of play, Coylton got the opener in the 27th minute when a speculative wind-assisted shot flew high past a helpless Adam Hunter to give the visitors an unexpected lead.

But Troon should have been level just a minute from the break when a Scott Nelson free kick beat the Coylton defence, and Conan McGhee just failed to get his head to Kian O'Neill's cross.

Half time: Troon Thistle 0-1 Coylton

Troon immediately set about trying to get back on level terms. Two minutes after the restart, Craig Garden and Kian O'Neill combined to set up a chance for Cameron Hodge who saw his effort saved by the Coylton keeper, but the equaliser was just a minute away as Craig Young's clearance from the half way line caught the wind and bounced over the Coylton keeper.

Craig Garden was just inches away from reaching a Blair Hepburn cross and Conan McGhee saw his shot scrape past the outside of the post as Troon continued to dominate and create chances.

The crowd were then treated to five goals in the space of ten minutes that would settle the destination of the three points.

Troon deservedly went ahead in the 48th minute when a wind-assisted Craig Young free kick from 40 yards beat the Coylton keeper, but their lead was short-lived as the visitors equalised just three minutes later.

Troon trialist Dylan Kelly then scored on his debut to make it 3-2 in the 56th minute, Troon's fourth came in the 59th minute as Conan McGhee chased down a long clearance from keeper Adam Hunter to score, and straight from the Coylton kick-off, Craig Garden won the ball in midfield and sent a defence splitting pass through for Conan to score his second and Troon's fifth.

Some great defending from Aaron Zakaszewski helped keep Coylton at bay, and Adam Hunter made a brilliant save to deny the visitors a third, but he was beaten as they pulled one back two minutes from time to make the final score 5-3 in Troon's favour.

So with their first win under the belt, Troon can now look forward with renewed confidence when they take on Ayr Boswell BC next week.
