Ayrshire was the setting for a cold morning's clash between Bonnyton Thistle and Stewarton. Bonnyton started off well but Stewarton’s long ball game was reaking havoc in the Bonnyton defence.

Ten minutes into the game and Charlie Reid burst down the wing and raced into the box before his marker took him down for the penalty. Reid picked himself up and drilled the ball into the middle of the goal underneath the goalkeeper's arms.

Stewarton came back fighting though and ten minutes later a great through ball from midfield was threaded through Bonnyon's defence and found Stewarton's hitman in behind. He sighted up Thistle keeper Dylan Ronney before placing the ball past him. 1-1. Blair Kennedy was denied a terrific goal after vicious shot on target was thwarted by the great reactions of the Stewarton goal keeper.

In the second half Bonnyton's defence improved, as did the quality of the passing. Neat one twos were commonplace, in particular between Matthew Mottram and Jack Reid on the wing. Mottram broke free down the left hand side and sweetly placed the ball into the bottom left hand corner from 15 yards out to put Thistle ahead.

Bonnyton capitalised on a Stewarton error to get the third goal as the defender was put under pressure by Reid, which lead to him slipping and handling the ball. The ref awarded a second penalty to Bonnyton which was this time converted by Jordan Mason as he placed the ball onto the bottom left hand corner; 3-1 Bonnyton.

The home side's fourth goal came from a throw in. Lewis Macabe used the chance to perfection as his looping throw sailed over Stewarton's defence and Blair Kennedy latched onto the loose ball and laced the ball into the top corner of the goal, 4-1. Bonnyton.

Stewarton didn't let the heads go down however and they managed to exploit Bonnyton on the counter attack. The Stewarton striker skipped Bonnyton keeper Dylan Ronney and fired one home for Stewarton to reduce the deficit. This was as close as they got however as the Kilmarnock side held on for a comfortable victory on the whole. Bonnyton will look to continue this form in an erratic season so far to make sure they go on a run of wins.
