The first half was all Cardonald who started very quickly closing down every ball from the first whistle not letting Ladeside settle on the ball. Cardonald took a lead in the fifteenth minute after some great work down the right from Peter McAlpine won a corner from which Gary McFall played a superb cross in for William Ogilvie to finish.

The second on twenty minutes came from great work in the midfield by Jay Devine to play a ball through to Kai Brown who finished with great composure.

Thistle's third goal came from a direct free kick from twenty yards which Ryan Bayless drove low and hard into the keeper's bottom left corner just before half time.

Half Time: KCFC Ladeside Juniors 0-3 Cardonald Thistle

The start of the second half saw Cardonald score again when Ryan Bayless capitalised on a loose ball to finish from twelve yards to make it 4-0 two minutes after the breka.

Straight from the kick off Ladeside ran straight through a tired looking Cardonald defence to pull one back through Marc Gillies, this was followed a minute later by another from Nairn Mackie to make the score 4-2.

Cardonald started to panic on the ball which Ladeside made them pay again on the sixtieth minute through a great strike from just outside the box was fumbled by the Cardonald keeper and pounced upon by Callum Craig to finish in to an empty net.

The visitors restored their two goal advantage with five minutes remaining after a mix up between the centre half and goalkeeper allowed William Ogilvie to finish from six yards for his second of the game.

However, straight from the kick off Nairn Mackie scored after some good passing play from Ladeside to make the last three minutes nervy for Cardonald.

Thistle eventually held on to win by the slimmest of margins, in an excellent game of football.

Full time: Kilbirnie Ladeside Juniors 4-5 Cardonald Thistle.
