Dreghorn made the trip south to Maybole to take on Carrick Colts with head coach, Paul Kellington, desperate for a reaction from his players following a defeat from Boswell.
Carrick started brightly on their huge Glebe Park pitch and forced an early free-kick outside the Dreghorn penalty area after desperate defending. A peach of a strike found the far corner of the net despite the despairing dive from Dreghorn keeper, David Miller.
Towering defender, Rhys Graham calmed Dreghorn nerves with a trademark header from a corner soon after.
Play became more even, and scrappy, before diminutive Dreghorn striker, Robbie Handling, found the net from a tight angle.
Half Time: Carrick Colts 1-2 Dreghorn YFC
After a half-time ‘pep talk’, Dreghorn came out aggressively and took the game by the scruff of the neck.
New signing Robert Murphy has settled in well and netted a brace.
Mercurial striker, Robbie Wilson added one before Jack McCartney compounded Carrick’s misery by finishing at the third attempt after hitting the woodwork twice.
A fairly comfortable victory for Dreghorn after a relatively poor start.
