As YFS celebrated it's sixth birthday last week, Dundee and Motherwell served up a 0-0 draw that may well make for the shortest and most uneventful match report ever published on the YFS website. Neither of the two sides played particularly poorly, but both were lacking that final pass in the last third. The draw means Dundee pick up their first point in the Development League since September, while Motherwell are now third in the Development League table.
Dundee's Jesse Curran had the first chance of the game after 23 minutes. The midfielder got on the end of Conor Quigley’s cross, but his volley was wide of the mark.
The first half was a largely forgettable affair as both sides failed to create any clear-cut chances. Mark Smith managed to get in behind the Motherwell defence twice before the break, but failed to trouble goalkeeper Peter Morrison on both occasions.

Dundee started the second half brightly. Calvin Colquhoun’s driven effort was well saved by Morrison 60 seconds after the restart.
Rory Loy was next to try his luck from the top of the box but Morrison was equal to the striker’s effort.
Motherwell created their best chance just after the hour mark. Tom Fry’s cross was met by Ross McLean, who saw his first-time effort well saved by Kyle Gourlay.
With eight minutes remaining, the visitors thought they had the lead. Adam Livingstone’s cross was turned into the net by Dylan Mackin, but the striker was ruled to be offside, and the match finished level.

Ian Smith - The Dundee winger was deployed behind Mark Smith and Rory Loy in the Dee's new look 3-5-2 formation and adapted well. Made some good runs and picked up some good positions that on another day may have resulted in goals.
Ross McLean - The Motherwell winger put in some dangerous crosses and was a handful for the Dundee wingback Quigley to deal with. Would have been on the scoresheet if not for a good stop by Gourlay.
Magic Moment
Dundee FC
Motherwell FC
Gourlay's Save from McLean - Motherwell's best move of the game and the Dundee stopper, who had a quiet evening,
Stephen Craigen's Telling Off - The highlight of the evening was most definitely the frustrated Motherwell coach being told off by the referee after voicing his displeasure at some of the officials decisions during the match.
