For the second day in a row an Arsenal side won 5-3 but this time it was Arsenal Boys Club Under 13s defeating Letham F.C Under 13s in the third round of the Scottish Cup.

In a game full of chances for both sides, Arsenal took their chances as Letham were left to rue missed opportunities.

Arsenal started the game brightly . Sean Trewavas saw his shot go just wide of the Letham goal before captain Kalvin Warren tested goalkeeper Sean Stewart with a long range effort.

Arsenal’s pressure paid off as they took the lead in the tie. Joseph Slee’s cross from the left was met by Reece Smeaton who fired the ball over the keeper to give Arsenal a 1-0 lead.

Sean Stewart in the Letham goal had to be on top form as Arsenal pushed for a second. Kalvin Warren and Reece Smeaton both saw efforts saved by the in from keeper.

With Kalvin Warren and Joseph Slee on top form a second looked as if it was on its way and after piling on the pressure, Arsenal got their second goal.

Joseph Slee’s surging run down the ring was not stopped which let Slee cut in and finish to make it 2-0 Arsenal.

The second goal seemed to wake up Letham as they started to create chances. Caleb Jack played Dylan McWilliams through one on one but his shot was just wide of the post.

Letham missed a glorious chance to pull one back when a Declan Harvey free kick was missed by the Arsenal defence and fell to Tyler Green in the box but he fired wide as Arsenal drew a sigh of relief.

Arsenal made Letham pay for their missed opportunities with a third goal.

From a pinpoint corner Reece Smeaton managed to bring the ball down and slot the ball past the keeper to make it 3-0 Arsenal and grab his second goal of the game.

Letham looked on the ropes as Arsenal continued to push. Kalvin Warren forced Sean Stewart to pull off another couple of great saves as Letham managed to go into the second half only three behind.

Sean Stewart pulled off a fantastic save to turn Reece Smeaton’s effort around the post for a corner but from the resulting corner Josh Stevenson headed the ball into the net to make it 4-1 Arsenal.

Letham made it 4-2 not long after. A Letham corner was met by Craig McGlashan who took a touch before firing the ball past the keeper to gve Letham some hope of a comeback again.

Joseph Slee’s good play down the wing set up Josh Stevenson in the box who gave the keeper no chance with his shot to make it 5-2 and grab his second of the game.

Letham refused to give up and were awarded a penalty after Declan Harvey was brought down in the box however Dylan McWilliams watched his penalty roll past the wrong side of the post.
