Seton BC Under 19s vs Arsenal BC Under 19s
SYFA Scottish Cup 3rd Round - 31/10/2011

Arsenal BC travelled to the out skirts of Edinburgh today, to face Seton BC, in Round 3 of the U19s Scottish Cup.

The wind was blowing a gale, so both teams would have to have good control whilst in possession to have any chance of winning this tie. Arsenal started well, keeping the ball down and playing their passing game as well as the conditions would allow them to.

We took the lead when Davis took a corner, and with his left foot, curled the ball goal wards, the ball was that good that the keeper could only push the ball into the roof of his net, as his efforts were fruitless in trying to clear the ball from the goal line. 1-0.

Next up was Clift, after a good passing move in midfield, he was sent through on goal, and slid the ball comfortably past the opposition goalie. 2-0.

The opposition players were trying to break through a stalwart Arsenal defence, but at every turn, the Gunners players restricted Seton to shots from out side the area.

Number 3 came, when a good move from out wide, saw a shot ricochet back off of the post, only for Davis to pop up and place the ball calmly into the bottom corner of the goal, to make it 3-0 to Arsenal. By this time the gunners had virtually full control of the game, although to their credit, Seton fought admirably as they tried everything to get back into the tie.

Arsenal's fourth and final goal was also a testament to just how good a game Davis had, the ball was played from the back in our usual passing game, into centre midfield, then out wide to Davis and as he controlled the ball, he looked up and saw Clift set off on the far side of the pitch towards Seton's goal, and Davis lifted the ball perfectly across the defenders into Clift's path, and with his first touch, brought the ball down and left footed it past the helpless opposition keeper. 4-0.

The second half saw Seton create more chances, but still, they could not get through, the defence that has won 7 trophies in 2 years.

Our thanks go to Seton BC, who played the game in the correct manner, and also for their hospitality after the match.
