Competition: Erskine YFC Tournament
Venue: India Tyres, Inchinnan
Date: 09/06/2012
A healthy crowd gathered at India Tyres, Inchinnan to watch the Erskine YFC tournament final between Erskine YFC and Johnstone Burgh.
Both sets of coaches paced anxiously up and down the side line as the referee blew for the start of the match.
The initial period of the match saw both teams sizing each other up as the ball is passed frantically by both midfields.  After 10 minutes Erskine started to take control with Myer McKinnon having the first real chance of the match, however, the Burgh keeper was quick to smother the ball at the feet of the striker.
The game settles back into a midfield battle before quick passing by Johnstone Burgh leads to a long range effort which goes harmlessly past the right hand post.
Erskine YFC manage to put together a flowing passing move of their own which leads to a great block from Burgh’s centre half from a Myer McKinnon shot.
Johnstone Burgh was now starting to put pressure on the Erskine midfield with their captain doing the hard work in the middle of the pitch.
The last action of a battling first half saw a great run and shot by Burgh #9 saved by the Erskine YFC keeper.
Burgh start the second half brightly and a dashing run down the left by Burgh #15 is stopped and cleared by Erskine YFC #8
Quick passing by Erskine releases Myer McKinnon on the edge of the box who catches a half-volley sweetly and smashes the ball for it to cannon off the post and into the back of the Johnstone Burgh net.
Burgh were now looking to get back on level terms, a quick move sees a cross by the winger into the Erskine area, Burgh #4 strikes the ball as it is cleared and the ball smacks the top of the bar and over. Almost the goal they were looking for.
As the game rages back and forth Erskine are awarded a corner which is met by Erskine’s Andrew Brodie and cleared off the line by some excellent defending.
The play moves back into the Burgh half with Erskine awarded an indirect free kick 16yds from goal left hand side of goal as Burgh are penalised for a deliberate pass back. Mourinho like coaching from the Erskine touch line encourages the ball to be shifted quickly left, the ball is drilled in by a left foot strike by Jordan McDonald which the keeper could only stand and wonder. Erskine were now firmly in the driving seat.
Erskine YFC get a free kick just in the Burgh half,  the ball into the box was a great one, which was controlled by Myer McKinnon and chipped over the Burgh keeper and headed into an empty net.
