SYFA West 99s Development Squad begin their competitive campaign for 2014 tomorrow night with the Inter-Regional Cup clash against Central at Harmony Row, Glasgow, 7.30pm kick-off. The coaches have named the 16-man squad for the opener and it is as follows:
GOALKEEPERS: Ross Fisher (Milngavie Wanderers), Ryan McLaren (St Peter's BC)
DEFENDERS: Nathan Carmichael (Milngavie Wanderers), Niall Herron (St Peter's BC captain), Kalvin Warren (Milngavie Wanderers), Mark Seggie (St Peter's BC), James Logan (Milngavie Wanderers), Fraser Cooper (Celtic BC)
MIDFIELDERS: Tony Coutts (Celtic BC), Fraser Burns (St Peter's BC), Connor Baird (Fulham BC), Marc Walker (Tass Thistle), Nathan McGarvey (Celtic BC)
FORWARDS: Jack Purdue (Gourock YAC), Mark Taylor (Fulham BC), Connor Nelson (Busby BC)
Head Coach Iain King said: "This is the first big test for the group but they showed up really well in the 9-3 friendly win over Strathaven Dyanmo 98s in the tune-up game.
"We still have Michael McLaughlin, David Gibbons and Joe Slee to come into the reckoning from the Denmark Cup winners of last summer and they will be in the 16 for Game Two against South West on Friday March 14 alongside the new boys in the squad.
"There is always a tinge of regret when you lose an influential player like Louis Fisher to pro youth at Motherwell but that's why we have Development Squads.
"He was our pick for captain initially before his move now his clubmate Niall Herron will get the armband after showing great leadership qualities in the group already.
"This a new team trying to build on a hugely successful side from last year so we are really keen to see how they work together tomorrow night."
