As a team, Erskine YFC under 15s have been on a winning streak and today, for the 9th League game in a row, we came out as the victors. This latest result leaves us 8 points clear at the top of Division 2, albeit with us having played a couple more games than our nearest rivals, although as any team challenging for a title will testify to, it is better to have the points on the board, rather than with games in hand.

Our winning run began with a 3-2 win over Parkmoor back in November and today, we beat our closest and most deadly of rivals 4-1, with us totally dominating the match, and ensuring our impressive form continues.

Logan Brown was our only absentee this week, out with a hamstring injury, which meant that thw 16 man squad picked itself. From this we went with a starting XI of Mikey in goals, solid and regular back 3 of Dec, Dazza and Kyle, middle 5 of Shaun, Craig, George, Matty and Keato, with Kyle partnering former Parkmoor man, Adam upfront. Subs therefore being Mikey Morrison, Logan Dempsey, Ryan, Lewis and Asha.

From minute 1 we were terrific: battling together as a solid unit, playing some breathtaking football at times and generally being the dominant side. We took the game to Parkmoor and looked to go and win the match from the opening whistle.

As in many derbies, the game was cagey and took both teams a few minutes to get into their stride and assert themselves in the match. Before we went 1-0 up we had a couple of other chances that were squandered or saved by the Parkmoor keeper, who was terrific throughout. We did take the lead however through an absolute stonker from Matthew. He picked the ball up just inside the final third and unleashed a shot, that any keeper in the league would have struggled to get close to, high into the top corner of the net.

One soon became two when after sharp thinking from Keato and Craig who took a short corner, a cross came in and as Kyle Harley went to get a touch on it, he did enough to make the defender deflect the ball into his own net.

Half Time: Parkmoor BC 0-2 Erskine YFC

Some of our football in the first half was sublime and we created triangles and other patterns of play that typified our current positive state of mind, that has come along with our winning streak. We told the lads to just keep it going and play with freedom and a smile on their faces and more goals would come.

We went 3-0 up in the second half through another screamer, this time from Craig, who just like Matty earlier on, picked up the ball and lashed a shot past the helpless keeper for a goal that his all round play fully deserved.

We conceded a goal striaght from a corner that really was our only single glaring mistake of the day and just allowed Parkmoor a little chink of light and a possible way back in to the match.

At this point we made all our subs and tried to ensure we saw the game out and secured a big win. We were placed under a little pressure but defended superbly well and then added a 4th of our own late in the game through a bullet header from Mitch, whose celebration showed exactly how important a win it was for the boys.

A trully outstanding performance and result and ensures our grip on 1st position remains strong. All 16 played their part and it was an excellent team effort. Well done boys....keep it up!!
