Celtic hosted Hibernian in a battle between the top two of the SPFL's Under 20 league. The Hoops began the match level on points with their visitors, but with two games in hand.
The first half saw Celtic pile on the pressure in search of the opening goal. Jamie Lindsay couldn't find the target with an early chance and Hibs goalkeeper Paul Grant then produced a double stop to deny Denny Johnstone and Patrik Twardzik.
At the other end Hibs looked dangerous too, with Jason Cummings and Duncan Watmore coming close.
Paul McMullen was heavily involved in the closing stages of the half, seeing two efforts blocked before the referee brought the first half to an end with the deadlock still intact.
Half Time: Celtic FC 0-0 Hibernian FC
Six minutes into the second half the scoring was opened and it was the plucky visitors who went ahead. An Owain Tudur-Jones header from a corner was cleared, but only as far as the prolific Cummings, who bundled the ball in.
Just a few minutes later the lead was doubled. This time Tudur-Jones was the man on target, placing an excellent free kick into the corner of Leo Fasan's net.
Celtic responded with Eoghan O'Connell going close twice and recent first team call up Liam Henderson being denied by the inspired Grant.
The deficit couldn't be reduced and Hibs celebrated doing the double over the Parkhead outfit. The result leaves Hibs top of the table, three points clear of Celtic (who have two games in hand) and seven clear of Rangers (who have three games in hand). Hibs only have three more games to play and with Celtic and Rangers still due to meet, an exciting final month of the title race is on the way.
