Leith Athletic defeated Musselburgh Windsor 4-2 in a thrilling match to reach the U15 League Cup Final.
The Edinburgh side welcomed Musselburgh Windsor to a windy Leith Academy to take part in the league cup semi-final.
The two sides had already met in the league this season, Musselburgh winning 4-2. Leith sit top of the league with Musselburgh in 4th, however, the away side have four games in hand and can go above their opponent if they win those games.

There was only two minutes on the clock when Simpson opened the scoring for the home side. A looping free kick from at least 30 yards out managed to creep under the bar and end up int the back of the net.
Musselburgh equalised just eight minutes later. A delivery was floated into the box and Scott was able to fire the ball home despite the Leith sides frantic efforts to stop the shot.
This helped the away side gain confidence and a few minutes a fantastic goal line block denied Windsor a second as the ball had been played round the goalkeeper. This followed two consecutive efforts from the away side that hit the woodwork.
Leith started the second half the better of the two sides putting pressure on Musselburgh. They got their reward as they scored quickly after the break. A cross trickled all the way across the box and landed at the feet of Robertson at the back post who would put the home side back in front.
Less than ten minutes later Leith doubled their advantage as another ball into the box found McDougall who volleyed home from ten yards out to make it 3-1.
Despite being two goals down, Windsor pushed on and committed players forward. This saw them get a goal with eight minutes to play, McPherson’s header finding the back of the net after a stramash inside the box.
Leith Athletic defended for their lives as Musselburgh pushed for an equaliser. With the away side pushing late on space opened up at the back. This was shown with a minute left on the clock as a clearance found Wilson who dribbled forward and calmy found the back of the net to put the game beyond any doubt.
As the final whistle went, Athletic were jubilant, but the Musselburgh players were also received with a round of applause from all the spectators.
Leith Athletic now have a league cup final to look forward to in a few weeks’ time. Musselburgh will now focus on the league to try get even higher up the table than they already are.

Not only did he get the third goal, but he was central inmost on Leith’s good play making great passes and helping the team get up the pitch. He stayed composed when Musselburgh applied more pressure. He was a big part in Leith Athletics’ success in the match.

He got the equaliser and was a leader on the pitch. He remained calm when Musselburgh were under pressure and helped Musselburgh play some goodfootball.
