Celtic and Hamilton set for UEFA Youth League Campaigns

The U19s teams of both Celtic and Hamilton will be testing themselves against Europe’s Elite in this season’s rendition of the UEFA Youth League.

As the Celtic men’s team qualified for the Champion League group stage, this gained their youth side entry into the competition. They are set to face Lazio, Feyenoord, and Athletic Madrid in a group-stage format.

The Glasgow side will be seeking to improve on their campaign in the Youth League last season as they only picked up 3 points and finished bottom of their group. Celtic kick off their campaign on the 19th of September as they travel to Rotterdam to take on Feyenoord.

Hamilton Accies will have a slightly different experience in this competition. As Accies won their league last season they enter the competition through the domestic champions section. This is where 32 teams will compete in a knockout format until only 8 teams are remaining who would then progress to the playoffs.

The Lanarkshire side will take on the Norwegian side Molde in the first round. The first leg takes place in Molde on Tuesday the 3rd of October.

Both sides will look to take confidence in the impressive run by Hibernian last season who made it to the play-offs, where they were knocked out by the German powerhouse Dortmund.
