Chirnsyde Plans Take Major Step Forward

Plans to transform Chirnsyde Playing Fields in Milton, Glasgow, have taken another significant step forward after funding was approved for further site investigation work.

Ashfield Football Club & Academy and Athena Glasgow Women & Girls Academy have been given the go-ahead to progress the next stage of the project, after approval of funding through the Vacant and Derelict Land Fund (VDLF).

The site investigation will help to establish the condition of the land and determine the next steps towards the wider plans for the area.

The aim of the joint project is to create a long lasting community asset for Milton and the surrounding area.

While there is still work to be completed, the latest development represents an important milestone in the plans to bring Chirnsyde Playing Fields back into use.

If the site can be successfully cleared for future development, the project could pave the way for a new facility at Chirnsyde and provide a long-term benefit for the local community.

The clubs have thanked those who have supported the vision and contributed to the project so far, with the latest announcement marking another step towards their ambitions for Chirnsyde and Milton.
