Cramond Yellows Under 13s V Liberton United FC Under 13s

On a nice morning at Davidson Mains Park, Cramond came out looking to take points off league leaders Liberton United with Liberton missing a few chances and Cramond missing a few far out chances. The first half was quite stale with both teams letting each other play.
At half time, Liberton coach Moray Dickson gave his team a wake up call and they made it a totally different second half.
Liberton came out from their half, full swing, getting the ball down and playing football, spreading it wide and playing right through the middle of Cramond. The first two goals came from their trusted striker’s Lewis Kynoch and Grant Chappell, both coming into the box from superb crosses from right winger Keiran Dickson.
The third goal came from what looked like a shot from Dickson which squared the box for left winger Paul Reilly to run on to and score. Goal four came after swapping Lewis Gray from centre midfield to right wing, Gray received the ball just beyond the half way line and struck the ball low and hard and before the Cramond goalie had a chance to see the ball it was in the back of the net.
Number five came by the way of captain Sean Gilhooley playing it wide for Dickson, Dickson taking a touch and hitting it with a tremendous dip up and over the Cramond goalie. The sixth one was a scramble up field by Cramond, landing at the feet of Liberton’s centre back Lee McMullan who finding the goalie off his line struck it sending the goalie back tracking to try and save it but the bounce beating him, the ball was in the net again.
The next goal came from Chappell with Cramond stuttering on the centre spot, Chappell made a run behind the Cramond man on the centre circle with the Cramond striker playing it straight into Chappell’s path who touched it by the Cramond midfield and then their defence to slip it by the goalie for his second goal of the match, a fantastic performance by Chappell. Goal eight resulted from another scramble landing at McMullan’s feet , who flicked the ball, turned, shot again finding the goalie off his line once more and hit the net for his second goal of the match, the goalie never had much of a chance to get to it.
Liberton’s defence had been cleaning up everything, putting it right back into the thick of it. Some of the one two’s between boys were fantastic with holding midfielder Cameron Oag missing a few times with that venomous kick. Jack Doyle doing a great job at centre back with the absence of Paul Weir who was unable to play due to illness.
Liberton goalkeeper Lewis Whitelaw kept a clean sheet again with Cramond not really troubling the great shot stopper. Jack Collins who came on at left back for Reilly after 10 minutes became the loudest player on the pitch lifting spirits and giving his usual 110%.
It was nice to see the return of Lewis Gray’s excellent challenges and resilience to go down under the challenges of Cramond, and Luag Laspina who later came on for McMullan, along with Doyle, Collins and Mark Barnet spreading the ball across the back four assuring Liberton keeping possession.
Right wing play between Barnet, Gilhooley, Dickson and Kynoch was running Cramond ragged with the passing and moving leaving Cramond flat footed.
So, an all round great performance in the second half.
