What is Giffnock SC?
Giffnock Soccer Centre is a youth Football academy that looks at developing the skills of all budding footballers, whether that is for the Mini Kickers scheme Giffnock operates or the Under-18 team.
The objective of Giffnock SC is to give everyone a fair opportunity. The academy is staffed by a team of dedicated coaches who provide boys and girls of all abilities the opportunity to train and develop in a fun environment.
The Academy run a variety of teams within the club such as Mini Kickers, Super 7s, Youth Football, Girl’s Football, Disability Football and also a team for children with additional support needs (ASN Children).
What has Giffnock SC achieved?
Giffnock SC has been awarded SFA Best Community Club for the great work they do on and off the park. Furthermore, they are the current SFA Legacy Award Club. This is a huge testament to how well the club is run.
Giffnock SC has enjoyed success throughout a variety of age groups with multiple teams within the community club having success in winning several trophies. Currently, Giffnock SC 2005s sit at top of the Paisley Johnstone & District division 1, as they aim to cement their first-place status towards the end of the season.
The hard work being done at the southside club just goes to show how powerful a youth academy can be with the support of the local community.
Facts about Giffnock SC
Giffnock SC has been around since 1995, and it’s safe to say they have a fair few fun facts, such as Champions League winner, and Scotland captain Andrew Robertson used to play in their academy. Also, Stoke City captain Liam Lindsey so too played with Giffnock SC before joining another local football club.
A third footballer who played with Giffnock is Hamilton Accies winger Lewis Smith. The U21 Scotland international started at Giffnock before moving to the Scottish Championship outfit.
Did you know Giffnock SC is home to 1400 registered players and 200 volunteers? This makes them the club with the most registered players at youth level!
Aims for the Future
Giffnock SC is an ambitious club and continuously aims to be bigger and better in what they do. By doing this, they look to build on bringing the community even closer together, so success can be enjoyed by everyone in the local town of Giffnock.
The team in black and red also have objectives to keep growing their women’s team, who recently joined the Scottish Women’s Football League where they’ll face notable outfits such as Falkirk and St. Mirren. This is another testament to Giffnock SC and how they look to develop the skills of promising footballers of different ages and backgrounds.
