Kilmarnock Portland U13s clinch League Cup in extra-time thriller

Kilmarnock Portland U13s have secured the NASA League Cup in sensational style, capping off their debut 11-a-side season with a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Irvine Vics.

The tightly contested final saw Blair Young emerge as the hero, scoring both goals for Portland in a game that showcased the team’s resilience and determination. Young gave Kilmarnock the lead in the first half with a composed finish, but Irvine Vics fought back, levelling the match in the second half to force extra time. With tired legs on both sides and the pressure mounting, it was Young again who stepped up, grabbing the winner in extra time.

It was a fitting finale for a team that has impressed all season long — not just with their attacking flair but also their rock-solid defending. Kilmarnock Portland finished the year with an incredible 26 wins, just 4 defeats, and no draws, scoring freely and boasting the best defensive record in the league.

Head Coach Marc Wilson said: “What a season it’s been for their first competitive football season – every single player in the team has been superb and we give them a huge applause for their hard work and dedication this season.

“We always say it, it’s a team effort each week so everyone puts their bit in to make it a great team of boys.”
