Stage is set for Aberdeen Regional Futsal Semi-Final

The last regional semi-final of the Futsal Youth Scottish Cup is set to take place in Aberdeen this Wednesday.

The tournament will be held at Strikers in Aberdeen, home to Scotland’s first ever custom-made Futsal court.

Recently placed under new ownership, Strikers are keen to promote Futsal and highlight its benefits.

The competition features a mix of 2012/13 teams. Specialist futsal institutions such as Aberdeen Futsal Academy will compete alongside clubs including West End FC and West Dyke, who have prepared futsal teams for the occasion.

All eight teams will battle for a place at the first ever Scottish Cup final of its kind, which will be held in Perth on June 7.

The event has the backing of the SFA, with the hopes that the sport will receive the attention it deserves following several years of impressive growth.

Finalists selected from the regional finals in Fife, West Lothian, and Glasgow will join the Aberdeen winner in a bid to become Scottish champions.

“Opportunity and exposure of this kind is key for futsal to being playing the role that it should across the country.”
