SYFA CUP FINAL PREVIEW: East Kilbride FC v Hampden Football Club

East Kilbride FC will face Hampden Football Club this weekend in the U18’s Scottish Cup Final at Broadwood Stadium.

Both teams have fought hard for their place, each having taken part in an all-important penalty shoot-out at some stage in the competition to remain in the running.

Displaying strength in recent rounds, East Kilbride dominated against Armadale Community FC, proceeding onto round 6 after a 4-0 victory and round 6 saw Hampden demonstrate similar qualities, beating Giffnock SC Reds 8-0.

Fairmuir Boys Club nearly denied East Kilbride their chance at the silverware with a dramatic quarter final. After success at penalties, they remained to challenge for the trophy.

Hampden Football Club conceded first in their semi-finals but bounced back to secure a 3-1 win, replicating their quarter final score against a Clydebank side.

East Kilbride started off the semi-final strong, scoring two goals in the first half, and using the second to focus on strengthening their defence.

Both sides have faced their fair share of hardships to be where they are now, there is no front runner, it is all to play for.

The 8pm kick-off will take place at Broadwood Stadium on Friday night, and everyone from Youth Football Scotland wishes both teams the best of luck.
