SYFA CUP FINAL PREVIEW: Giffnock SC v Lochend Football Academy

This SYFA Scottish Cup final fixture sees the ultimate battle between two cities, as Glasgow side Giffnock SC take on Edinburgh’s Lochend Football Academy.

Lochend Academy said they were “overjoyed” to proceed to the final after an early red card in their semi-final fixture against Bonnyton Thistle FC. A team effort saw the boys finish 2-1 to secure their place in the all-important final.

Giffnock SC are no strangers to this cup final as they return for the second year running. Having lost out last time, they’ll be eager to take it all. They advanced after a 3-1 win over Drumchapel in their semi-final.

Each teams’ journeys have been similar, setting this fixture up to be an exciting viewing experience.

It was round five that saw Giffnock in troubled waters, drawing 1-1 with Hutchison Vale Whites, whilst Lochend cruised on through with a 4-0 win against Mayfield United Ambers.

The tables turned in round six when Lochend drew with Stirling Albion in a goalless fixture, needing penalties to go their way, which of course, they did.

Giffnock breezed past another Glasgow suburb side to earn their place in the semi-finals, whilst Lochend found themselves in yet another penalty shoot-out against Arthurlie Whites.

If the previous rounds are anything to go by, Broadwood Stadium is in for an exciting match with this one!

The game kicks off at 3pm on Sunday afternoon, and everyone from Youth Football Scotland wishes both teams the best of luck.
