U16 Thorn Athletic Player Called Up for First Team

Thorn Athletic U16 player Liam Curivan was given the opportunity to step up to the club’s men’s team on September 19th in a friendly against Finnart.

Curivan is a key part of Thorn Athletic’s U16 team, leading the team as captain in the Paisley Division One.

The opportunity to be called up to the men’s side at such a young age highlights the pathway available to young players within the club, allowing them to experience football beyond their own age group and continue their development in a senior environment.

Other debuts were given out to Kayden Reid, who has been at the club since age 4 and returns after spell playing with Airdrie, and attacking midfielder Ashton Meikleham who has impressed with the development team.

The appearance provided them with valuable experience of playing alongside older players and being introduced to the demands of the men’s game.

Opportunities like this can play an important role in youth development, showing progression into senior football can begin from within their own club.
