One of the new additions to Dundee in Bobby Wales, expressed his thoughts on the new management team at the Scotland U21 camp and described it as better than the last camps he’s been involved in due to a refreshing new leadership.
The ex-Swansea youngster reflected on past camps and believed Tony Docherty’s presence and style has already surpassed ex-manager Scott Gemmell’s training traditions. When asked how he felt, he said it was more enjoyable.
“Training under Scott Gemmell was a lot more tactical, we’d have longer sessions where as now they want just football and we can go out and express ourselves and train”
“I feel like the boys actually enjoy training now because its such a good group that we have now and when you add a good manager to that too everything adds up together”
“Its fresh funnily enough they’ve got the losing team doing forfeits so just that expectation and mannerism to win as well. So you wont just settle for being the middle team, everyone wants to win.”
Now the players know they have to impress with the new manager in as there’s a close gap in age that a first team opportunity could be on the cards, Wales said: “100% we know that a new manager, it’s a new face to impress and same with us as the 21s, gaffers brought in Kyle Glasgow and he’s been amazing, im actually surprised with how good hes been, so it’s a chance for everyone in the 21s and the A squad.”
When asked about his club career and his move back up north home wales thoughts were he was certain on his latest move.
“I’m really happy to be back home, it was something I was quite against coming back up the road if I’m honest with Swansea and even Huddersfield I wasn’t really given a chance anywhere a chance to explore the English game and what I had down south compared to up here the only con was coming up here, but now I am here I’m so much happier just comfortable with the league and my Dundee team mates Aswell as Steven Presley and he’s been amazing with me.”
