Young Duo Included in Latest Scotland Women’s Squad for World Cup Play-Offs

Kirsty MacLean and Mia McAulay have been included in Scotland’s 26-player squad for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 play-off double-header against Czechia.

The two young players are among the squad selected by head coach Melissa Andreatta, as Scotland look to take another step towards next summer’s tournament in Brazil.

MacLean, 21, currently plays for Liverpool and has already made her senior Scotland debut, having represented the national team since 2023. She has also progressed through Scotland’s youth pathway, featuring from U15 to U19 level.

McAulay, 20, will join up with the squad after her performances for Aston Villa, continuing her progression into senior international football.

With MacLean and McAulay both still at the early stages of their senior careers, their inclusion provides another example of young Scottish talent progressing into the national team setup.

Scotland will travel to face Czechia at Pardubice Stadium on Friday, 9 October, before the return fixture at the Marbill Coaches Stadium in Paisley on Tuesday, 13 October.

The winner of the two-legged tie will progress to a play-off final in December, with a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil at stake.

YFS wishes both players the best of luck with the Scotland squad.
