Zenith Coins Player of the Week: Hibs Community Club’s Esmé Bain

Hibs Community Club’s U10s Esmé Bain has won this week’s Youth Football Scotland Player of the Week Zenith Coin.

Bain, who has featured for both Hibs U10s boys and girls sides over 22 times since March, often plays for the two teams in consecutive games.

And in the wake of her achievement, Esmé spoke on what it means to her.

She said: “I am pleased to have won an award that is country-wide!”

Being the child of coach Liam Bain, her work often goes beyond matchdays, arriving earliest to training and staying later than her teammates.

Coach and father Liam credited Esmé’s application for winning this week’s coin, saying: “Esmé attends training sessions with both teams, regularly taking part in double training sessions each week, as well as a weekly one-to-one coaching session.

“She is exceptionally dedicated and rarely misses a training session or match. As a coach’s child, she is always arriving early and staying late after sessions, always helping with the transport and set up of equipment.

“She can sometimes be overlooked when it comes to individual awards or recognition, but her hard work, determination, and positive attitude never go unnoticed.

“She consistently gives her best, is always looking to improve, and sets a fantastic example through her commitment and work ethic.”
